Due to the diverse culture and the variety of religions practiced on the island of Mauritius, located just off of the coast of mainland Africa, there are many festivals and celebrations that occur throughout the year. One such celebration that happens the world over is the Christmas holiday. This is one of the events that will serve to be most memorable to anyone who chooses to visit the island and stay in a Mauritius luxury hotel.

Many tourists who have been to the island during this time, chose to come back year after year to partake in the celebrations and the ceremony. Spending the Christmas holiday on the island will provide one with a very unique and special experience. And although this is a Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, many of the other religions of the island give and receive gifts during this time as well. Thus, the holiday on the island has become one that is celebrated by all, regardless of religious beliefs.

There are a large number of those of the Christian on the island and the celebration is one of the largest of the festivals. Most of those of the Christian religion on the island are of the Catholic denomination, and the rituals surrounding this holiday such as the decorating of Christmas Trees and the putting of the gifts under the trees is a common practice throughout. All the children of the island are similar to children around the world, and the myth and the thoughts about Santa Claus and his visits in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve.

And similar to other countries around the world, men dressed in red suits and donning long white beards are a familiar sight in the markets and the shopping centers during the time surrounding the holiday. Another Christian holiday celebration by all on the island is that of Easter. This celebration is characterized on the island by a vast number of feasts in which the various cuisines of the different cultures of the island are offered up and eaten with jubilation and fervor. Either of these times are great times for a visit to the island.
