Singapore is an amazing city-state, where the wide variety of architectures and styles in fashion invoke an effect that is mystifying. There is an enormous sensibility toward beauty here, where there seems to be multiple concentrated efforts to make a cityscape that is constantly pleasing to the eye. It’s evident not only in the buildings and the fashions, but is also present in the food. Whether the traveler’s taste is for Indian, Chinese , or any of the other local cuisines that are served up so elegantly here, there is a beauty in presentation that further evolves in the tasting.

It’s a lovely way to spend an evening, where one can have a fine meal, and then venture out to look at the local arts and entertainments. It’s very apparent that there is a great deal of attention put to the public art in Singapore, and like any artworks, these all have their own stories. The work of Lin Emery is a splendid example. This artist has a number of public works, and her sculptures have been shown in exhibitions all over the world. They each demonstrate a remarkable sense for combining crafted materials with an eye toward honoring principles found in nature.

Her works show a kind of elegant fluidity, and for some of the sculptures, where works of metal invoke a certain sharpness and harsh angularity, the fluidity comes through as a kind of grace note. The artist herself comes from New Orleans in the U.S., and her work translates here in Singapore because of its fine attention to capturing a subtle elegance of form that speaks of technology that is always trumped by the forces of nature. Singapore’s thriving metropolis is always also accompanied by the presence of nature, the power of the elements, transfiguring our visual field, and at times, even our consciousness.

I woke up really early this morning and headed to Pike Market, located in downtown Seattle, I needed a Piroshky fit bad. Ever since I ate at Piroshky’s Bakery last year, I’ve had a hankering for one ever since. There’s no place like it where I live, Arizona. I really recommend if you are ever in Seattle, you must stop off at Piroshky Bakery. I get the Bavarian Sausage Piroshky, but the potato and cheese is just as delicious.

After I pigged out, I walked through the rest of Pike’s Market and I saw some very large shrimp, I mean huge, colossal. Plus, there were gigantic crab legs and enormous donuts. Scatter this with flowers, chocolates and some other interesting items, and that Pike’s Market. However, I seemed to be here a bit early, because there’s still many stalls and shops not open yet. So, I headed down the pier and hung out at this pirate store for tourist.

I then headed to the Seattle Art Museum, it opens at 10am and I made a donation of $20.00, otherwise it was free. I saw some pretty cool art, I started taking pictures, but one of the museums curators told me photographs were prohibited. I felt kind of bad, because I did manage to pop off some shots. He didn’t ask me to destroy or delete the ones I’ve already took, which was great, because I got one of the Rothko paintings that my sister absolutely loves, so at least I can send that to her via Email. The curator had to run off to stop another person from taking photographs, so for now, I think I’m safe.

The Piroshky’s began to take their effect, I was tired and satisfied all at the same time, I headed back to my hotel in Seattle to take a snooze before heading back out again. I have a feeling that once I wake up, I’ll be needing another Piroshky fix.

A small neighborhood sit just ten blocks away from the Inner Harbor. This is the neighborhood of Mount Vernon and here you will find the best of what life has to offer. This is a college town and an artistic hub. There are funky apartment buildings and exquisite mansions. Artists and corporate professionals, all sitting in the same coffee shops and the same restaurants, all wishing to avoid the hum drum life that comes from living in the suburbs outside the center of the city. The location is convenient and access to a many different services, sources of entertainment and a world of art sit just outside any front door in Mount Vernon.

When the city’s port began to thrive in the early 1900′s, from a small town into a metropolitan place of wealth and prominence, this was the neighborhood. Residents during that time included some of the most influential business people, and they chose the best architects working at the time to build their houses, the monuments and the buildings in Mount Vernon. These works of structural art are one of the aspects that contribute to the charm of the neighborhood today. Many of them are still standing.

Over the years the owners of these buildings have been renovating these wonders of Baltimore. Plumbing, electrical and structural elements have been updated, without loosing their original charm and craftsmanship. Many of them were originally built as residential homes, but are now the homes of such institutions as the Walters Art Gallery and the Engineering Society. Set amidst these Victorian beauties are row homes, high rises, condos, and carriage houses.

Just walking down Charles Street, is a visual experience in and of itself. Each 1st Thursday, the neighborhood sponsors the art walk, on this street and all the galleries open their doors, there is music and food and art. Festivals happen throughout the year, music, theatre, dance and art. This is not only a cultural area but one that is economically thriving and well taken care of by all of the residents fortunate enough to live in Mount Vernon, one of the hippest districts in the city of Baltimore.

When Joseph stood before the first red dot that appeared on the title of one of his paintings at his first showing at a major gallery he couldn’t believe his eyes. That red dot meant that his painting had been sold, and he had dreamed about this day since he was seven. He remembered back to the vacation his family took years ago and their incredible visit to Spain. They spent a week in Barcelona where they enjoyed the luxury accommodations of one of the 5 star Barcelona hotels. While they were there they visited the Museu Picasso, Picasso Museum, and it was standing in front of the work of this Cubist master that Joseph knew he too was destined for the canvas.

Joseph was immediately impressed with the lines and colors used in Cubism and some of his early experiments and sketches were done in honor of his Picasso, his first major influence. That trip to Barcelona happened twenty years ago, but was fresh in Joseph’s mind that night. The Museum is located in the heart of the old city, and this in itself had a huge impact on the young artist. The incredible historic architecture captivated him, and ultimately became incorporated into what would become Joseph’s main subject manner. He painted cityscapes, and was fascinated with Spanish architecture. The great buildings that line Barcelona’s streets would frequently be the subject of his work.

Visiting the Picasso Museum was not the only thing his family did on that vacation, and Joseph fondly remembers the beautiful beaches and great views as well as the fabulous food. He loved the tapas, and since that summer he has always had a strong interest in appetizer as meal structure. As an adult he would frequently order two or three appetizer plates for his entrée. While he remembered back on all of these aspects of that vacation, he noticed the table of hors ‘oeuvres calling to him from across the room. This brought him back to the present and the reality that he had just sold his first painting in a real gallery. He also realized he was extremely hungry and immediately strolled over and made himself a plate of small delicacies.

Modern architecture is a style of building with similar characteristics mainly simplification of form and line. The elimination of ornamentation is key to modern architecture. The first variations from classical forms of building began in the early 20th century. Many influential architects embraced the new styles after World War II. This new style was initially dominant in public, institutional and corporate buildings for decades. Many still debate the origins of modern architecture which can be tied to changes in social structures, economic changes and innovation is design and materials used in building structures. The availability of new materials such as concrete, steel and glass changed the face of architecture forever. The Crystal Palace in London a structure made of glass and iron broke the mold in traditional thinking about buildings, their form and materials used to build them. Whatever the cause in and around 1900 a bunch of architects around the world started developing new building design solutions for integrating traditional forms in modern buildings. The work of Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright of Chicago, Victor Horta in Brussels, Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona, Otto Wagner in Vienna and others can be seen trying to incorporate the old with the new. In the 1920′s the development of the arts and crafts movement worked toward the incorporation of the simple cleaner lines of modern architecture with the some of the nuances of traditional building designs. These all have lead to the building of towering structures reaching to the sky, the sky scraper. Early art deco structures have character and style while latter the stripping of the ornamentation left nothing but cold glass boxes with straight lines extending vertically from the ground. However this is ever changing and many new examples of these new styling in architecture are to be seen in the luxury hotels Dubai UAE. The sleek buildings with their twisting forms break the mold. These magnificent buildings are challenging the thoughts and perceptions of building form and style. What the future holds for architecture is any ones guess more innovations are inevitable, styles and tastes will change and so will the buildings we live in and use.

Jesus Christ Superstar is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock musicals. While it has had some nearly controversial aspects associated with its history it remains extremely popular and is commonly produced around the nation as well as elsewhere across the globe. The strongest aspect that contributed to the controversial nature of its performances was the opposition expressed by conservative Christians. Some individuals and groups considered the musical and its story line to be blasphemous. This opposition, as is common in these circumstances, contributed to greater interest in the musical by certain other people. However, the brilliance of the music and dynamical representation of the last days of Christ’s life are the main reason the musical holds such a strong place in the musical theatre scene. It also achieved critical success and won 5 Tony Awards, including the one for Best Original Score. Tim Rice wrote the lyrics.

The musical begins with an overture by Judas, who ponders the future of the Jesus’ small following and the fate of the messiah himself. The lyrics give the warning about the growing popularity of this once humble and obscure man. The story continues and includes songs by the masses, the followers, the priests, Herod, Pilate, Mary Magdalene, Jesus and more. The plot traces Jesus’ and the followers arrival in Jerusalem through to his crucifixion. The crucifixion is also the focus of the show’s most popular song, Superstar. It is sung by Judas and the dancers just prior to Jesus’ actual crucifixion. In addition to the musical, a film has version was made in 1973 starring Ted Neeley as Jesus and Carl Anderson as Judas. It has become something of a cult classic. Theatre tickets for the stage productions of this musical are easy to find, as it is playing somewhere in most regions at any given time.

I found it’s necessary to make some observation and comments when it come to attending a theater show. Once you’ve purchased your Theater Tickets, make sure you have plenty of time to go back home and change your clothes if you bought the tickets in the clothes you just slept in or mowed your lawn in. Those clothes are not appropriate for the theater, plus you smell. One should wear clothes that covers a good portion of your skin too. You are not going to a strip club.

Stop shifting in your seat, stop sucking your teeth during the play because you want to show disgust about what’s going on either with one of the audience members or what’s happening on stage. Pay attention to what’s happening on stage and not what someone is doing 5 seats away. If you actually pay attention to the play, you really won’t even notice what other audience members are doing.

Comments: It’s a waste of time to stand in line for 20 minutes and pay $15 for a tiny 3 ounce glass of wine, and then have to swig it down fast because intermission is over and the lobby lights are blinking on and off. Either sneak in a little bottle in your purse, or wait. The play should only be about 2 hours long, surely you can wait that long. Don’t pay for a box of candy either unless you plan to share it with me, and I will ask you to share it with me. And please, please don’t take a stupid group photo in the Opera House. It’s in bad taste, instead do it in the parking lot. Really, how silly to pose like you’re doing something eventful enough to get a photo in the theater for, theater going should be a natural event in your life. Not some spectacle.

With its excellent 5-star hotels, Macau is a tourist destination that is like none other in the world. Located 60 kilometers to the southwest of Hong Kong, and with a gorgeous tropical climate, Macau is rich in atmosphere and history. Having had its sovereignty returned to China in 1999, it was a Portuguese colony from the 16th century. There is, of course, still a very large Portuguese influence in Macau, as demonstrated by its festivals and cultural traditions, although the densely populated region is predominantly Chinese. This mix in influence is visible in our hotels, which have a splendid combination of designs to make for a unique international feel. The accommodations are also superb, meeting or exceeding the standards in the industry, and pay particular attention to merging innovation and tradition.

Macau has some excellent activities for the entire family, including sight-seeing tours, cultural events, and people watching. Because of Macau’s easy accessibility, there are also some excellent opportunities to see a wide array of visual and performing arts. There are many world-class musical performers who come through here, and some of the best tours in world theatre can also be seen. There is also a spectacular 25-day event, the Macau Arts Festival that should not be missed by anyone, both locals and visitors. The Video Art Cycle is one of the features of this festival that really speaks to the contemporary art scene in Macau.

The Video Art Cycle is considered to be a place where new media can be seen in Macau, and it attracts participants from all over the world. With an eye toward the most cutting edge in video work, from the East to the West, but with a local emphasis, it’s a chance for audiences to see what’s happening in this realm. It also provides artists an opportunity to have their work shown, and to help forge alliances among young artists who are creating new directions. It brings in artists of international renown, such as KUO I-Chen, who are pushing the boundaries of video. There are other categories in the festival for more traditional art forms, and also some very exciting installation art, and all contribute to the international dialogue on art and performance.

The beaches on Ibiza are beautiful and offer great views, romantic sunsets and plenty of opportunity for water sports. The historic ruins, major landmarks and museums are also attractive to tourists. In addition, clubbing in Ibiza is certainly one of the most popular activities and also a main reason it attracts so many tourists every year. The island enjoys a wide population of tourists every year and some of them are celebrities. In addition, some people love it so much they are inclined to make it there home, or at least a second home. James Blunt is one of the celebrities who visited the island and decided to buy a home there. Blunt is a popular English musician who is widely known for his song You’re Beautiful.

Blunt was born in 1974 in Tidworth, Wiltshire, England. He was born in an army hospital and was the first child of his parents. His father was a Colonel in the British Army Air Corps and Blunt spent much of his early childhood in England, Germany and Cyprus. He studied Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Bristol and was also interested in sociology. The military paid for his education, and he was subsequently obligated to serve four years time.

As a child, Blunt studied the violin and piano. In school he was exposed to the guitar, which he loved immediately and began writing songs when he was 14. In 2002 he left the British Army and decided to focus full time on his music, which he decided he wanted to make a career out of. His surname was originally spelled Blount, but since it was pronounced the same way he decide to change the spelling to make it easier to pronounce. Shortly after he left the army, Blunt signed with EMI music publishers and Twenty-First Century Artists Management. He initially had a difficult time finding a record contract because most producers that his British speaking voice was too posh for rock and roll. He moved to Los Angeles and for a short time lived with Carrie Fisher. She allowed him to use her bathroom to record the song Goodbye My Lover. His first album, Back to Bedlam, was released in the UK in 2004.

Many travel to the Rajasthan state of India for shopping, and find that located close to many of the markets are fine luxury hotels. Jaipur is one of the cities in the state that is famous for their craft-work and the artistry of their artisans. One can find just about anything in the markets of Jaipur, from clothing to furniture to house wares, to dolls. One of the techniques used in producing the pottery that Jaipur has become so famous for, is art of Blue Pottery. This art traveled to Jaipur with the Mughal conquerors and courts, from Afghanistan and Persia. The pottery is different from others such as terra cotta, in that it is not made from clay, but from quartz. It is only fired once, as with the regular forms of pottery, however it is much stronger, will not crack thus making it more hygienic and perfect for use every day. Many of the dishes and the pots that are made in this way are then painted intricately with brushes. Copper and cobalt oxides are what produce the blue color. Many popular design motifs include birds and animals. One can find any number of cups, vases, pitchers and fruit bowls along the alleys and walkways of the downtown market places.

Many come to the markets to shop for the dolls, the toys and the puppets. There are many locations throughout the cities of Jaipur and Udaipur to find the craft-work of the making of dolls and wooden toys. The wood used is called doodhia, which is a soft wood and is easily shaped and chiseled. Many different toys and dolls are made with this wood, then polished for the shine and the durability. One may find figurines, of humans and of animals, cars, lanterns and trains to bring home to the children. The cloth made toys are beautiful as well, and are often brightly painted by hand. Many artists produce works that are true pieces of expressive art. Puppets and puppetry is extremely popular in the cities of Jodhpur and Jaipur. In the community of Bhatt, many of the puppets are hand-crafted for sale, as well as for use in their own puppet shows. Puppets tend to have very large noses and eyes, and stand close to two feet tall. The clothing for the puppets is hand-made as well, and as with the toys and dolls, these are too, incredible works of art.
