It was time for Joe to visit San Antonio, Texas for the first time in his life. That may not sound like much of an earth shattering or major life experience, unless of course you live there and feel like it should be to others, though for Joe it also meant that it was the first time he would meet his fiancée’s parents. He had only been engaged for a little over a month at that time though Tammy’s parents thought it was incredibly rude that they couple told them over the phone that they were getting married and they had never even met this so called Joe.
Well, there’s nothing like the pressure of meeting your fiancée’s first time with an already established reputation for being inconsiderate to the point of being rude. Joe couldn’t remember the last time anyone had called him rude, though after he thought about it the concept started to make sense. After all, he was the man that their daughter was going to be spending the rest of her life with. They certainly had the right to meet him and get a feeling for the kind of person he was.
To try and patch up the damage he had already done to his soon to be in-law’s opinion of him, and well honestly to try and put a little space between them and him, Joe reserved a room for himself in one of the best San Antonio hotels and intended for Tammy to stay with her parents. He also arranged for the first meeting to take place at boudros bistro where he planned to buy them dinner. Perhaps he also wanted to ensure that the meeting occurred in a public place, though he never admitted to it. This actually turned out to be a great choice. The Riverwalk bistro included a beautiful outdoor patio and the food was great. The introduction went well and Joe actually began to relax when the appetizers of Avocado Caliente and Wild Field Mushrooms arrived. The group laughed and talked easily through the meal and after Joe had paid the bill Tammy’s parents welcomed him into the family and laughed about having called him rude. They were only kidding it turned out and figured by saying that it would be the quickest way to get the couple to visit. They were right.
