Touching Cardiff
Posted by Cindy on August 10, 2009First stop, Stonehenge. We were with about 500 other tourists and the day was grey and moody. I didn’t know Stonehenge is roped off, what a disappointment. We only got to walk around the outside, but at least this let everyone spread out in order to take some fantastic photographs. Stonehenge is out in the middle of nowhere. It was a peaceful, serene place, except for the 500 other people. There was a tourist shop where a couldn’t decide to buy the refrigerator magnets, a teaspoon or a mug, so I got all three.
I should’ve borrowed my friends ski jacket, it’s really very wet, cold and windy. But, I wasn’t the only one unprepared for the cold weather at Stonehenge. The majority of the tourist were in their summer clothes. Our tour bus wasn’t as packed as the other tour buses. There was only 28 of us on a bus that can seat 50. When I saw how many people arrived or left Stonehenge, I thought, wow, too bad Stonehenge is such a popular site, otherwise we would be able to go and walk around the stones and touch them. That would be ideal.
Our tour bus took us back to our hotel, were we packed up and checked out. Second stop, Bath. We checked out the Roman Baths and picked up our audio guides and wandered around after stern warning not to touch the water or drink the water or do anything at all associated with the water. It has organisms growing in it that will give us Meningitis! So, Stonehenge, we couldn’t touch the stones and now in Bath we can touch the water.
Third Stop, Cardiff and Yay! This is where I get a room all to myself at the Cardiff Hotel. It will be pure luxury compared to all the other hotel rooms which I had to share with 3 other people. Just being in my hotel room will be an amazing tour. I’ll be able to touch anything I want.
