Excitement in Cape Town

I purposely took my vacation time in Cape Town so I could travel on the The Garden Route which starts at Cape Town and ends at a stop at Mossel Bay. After I checked out of my hotel room and ate at one of the Best Cape Town Restaurants, I took my car hire on off down and off I went.

At Mossel Bay, which was not much, except for the famous Post Office Tree where, apparently, sailors would leave letters hanging in a boot to be picked up by those headed towards the country where the letter were addressed. I then headed to the Wilderness National Park so I could do some birding. While I was there a very nice elderly gentleman invited me on a canoe trip where his took me to an artist colony along the Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. I was not prepared for this treat, Plettenberg Bay is where the very rich play and is where the best trendiest resorts are. I got to spend the whole afternoon visiting and talking to the very elite before my new found elderly gentleman friend canoed me back to my car hire. Wow, what a trip, really. I felt like I was dreaming the whole adventure.

The next day I headed to Tsitsikamma National Park and hiked along the nature trails and explored some caves. Then, later on I made it back to my car and headed off to Jeffrey’s Bay so I could get in some surfing. I managed to be there at the same time as the annual Whale Festival. So there were lots of people on the beach and tour boats in the waters, but that only added to my fun. I was not only riding the real waves of the ocean, but I was riding a wave of pure excitement and pleasure.
